When you are getting worried about your child going to sleep-away camp for the first time, here's what you can do:
  • Ask for a list of other families with campers in your area, and meet them ahead of time.
  • Visit the camp and meet the director before camp starts
  • Give your child a tape recorder and tapes to mail back and forth so you can hear each other's voices during the summer
Remember: We all want to be better parents - but kids don't come with an instruction manual.

If you've noticed that your daughter seems uncomfortable about her weight, here's what you can do:
  • Encourage her to participate in sports she enjoys. Stay active, even exercise along with her.
  • Dump the junk food and fill your fridge with healthy, tasty snacks
  • Show admiration for women of many body shapes, not only the skinny ones in magazines.
Remember: We all want to be better parents - but kids don't come with an instruction manual.
