As an adjunct associate clinical professor of psychology at the Derner Institute of Adelphi University, Dr. Haber supervises doctoral students in psychooncology (psychological interventions with cancer patients and their families). Her full time affiliation is as a private practitioner in New York City.

Dr. Haber is the editor of Breast Cancer: A Psychological Treatment Manual (Springer,1995) and co-author of Prostate Cancer: A Guide For Women and the Men They Love (Dell,1996; revised edition New Harbinger, In Press). Her newest book, Saying Good-Bye to Managed Care: Building Your Independent Psychotherapy Practice will soon be available (Springer Publishing).Additionally, she is the Senior Advisor for the American Psychological Association's Task Force on Genetic Susceptibility, and has served as chair of the Public Information Committee and co-chair of the American Psychological Association's Congressional Initiative on Serious Illness. Dr. Haber teaches continuing education workshops for health care professionals on the psychological treatment of cancer and has designed psychological intervention programs for both Winthrop-University Hospital and the American Cancer Society.

A substantial portion of Dr. Haberís time is devoted to the governance of the American Psychological Association and to the dissemination of psychological findings to the public. In this latter role, she has served as a media consultant and lectures frequently to professional and lay audiences.

Dr. Haber has appeared on shows such as Good Morning America!, Sally Jesse Raphael, CNN, Fox on Psychology and NewsTalk and her work has been featured in the NewYork Times and in magazines such as Self, Psychology Today, Shape, Woman's Day, Cosmopolitan, Family Circle and Behavioral Medicine. Most recently, she was a featured commentator in Richard Attenborough NBC-Hallmark documentary on Princess Diana.

Dr. Haber is the Past President of the Division of Independent Practice of the American Psychological Association.
